(The Scholars)

ebook

(This is an outstanding satirical novel in Chian's literature history, which shows Wu Jingzi, the author saw and heard by himself. The novel also expresses his noble sentiments that he valued text sources and despised fame and fortune. In vivid and lively writing style, the book reflects realistically society and it is a lifelike social outlook picture. Wu Jingzi, the author, refined folk oral language and used simple, humorous and natural language to write about darkness of the feudal national examination system, vulgarity and ridiculousness of bookish scholars and fake celebrities and harshness and contemptibility of corrupt officials. Such description in the book just comes to the point appropriately, it is ridiculous rather than harsh so that the book does not fall into the trap of low interest for the exposure novel.)
